Maqhaweni Upliftment Centre is a registered Non-Profit Organization, though registered 2016, it started six years before that. The All Saints' Church, touched by the socio-economic plight faced by the community of the neighbouring informal shack settlement of MaQhaweni, initiated and started a feeding scheme aimed at catering for orphaned and socio-economically vulnerable children. The scheme is primarily funded by contributions from the members of the congregation, Farmserve, Umhlali and the Wonderbag Foundation. Currently the feeding runs from Monday to Friday feeding 41 children from 23 families.
Every year, before the cold winter period, the All Saints Church Women’s Guild and other willing members of the congregation knit fleece jerseys and donate jackets which are presented to beneficiary children to keep them warm. In addition, for the Christmas season children are also presented with gifts and refreshments. We have recently collaborated with Santa Shoebox Project to provide Christmas gifts to the orphan children of Maqhaweni.
If you would like to make a donation to Maqhaweni Upliftment Centre please contact the rector for details on how to do this.
